TOMOGRAPHY
Computerized Tomography (CT) (CT) is a technique in which X-rays scans the body with thin slices (30-10 mm). Thus, it helps to determine us the organic diseases inside the body. With the development of technology speed of multi-slice BT (CT) devices have increased, and the thickness of the slices that are visible to them is decreased. During a single breath hold (15-20 seconds) the whole body can be displayed in slices; sections which are taken continuously can be processed in computer so that the anatomy can be understood better. |

During the computerized tomography examination, the patient must lay down without moving on the table. As table moves toward the central part of the device, to display the related body part, a large number of cross-sectional images are taken by the device. During the process there is no application that can give a pain or ache. In abdominal CT examinations often medication given orally with water, providing all the intestines stuffed with dyed water, this makes it easier to separate masses in the bowel or in bowel wall from other tissues. The medication given rapidly into the blood vessels with pump, changes color of blood, this provides state of the blood vessels, relation of mass with blood vessels, blood build up properties of masses and some masses become visible.

It is being preferred because of its fast process, and because it makes it possible to examine very different organ systems in a few minutes. Name can be given to computerized tomography according to the organ it will examine. For example, if it will examine the abdominal region it is being called "abdominal CT", if it will examine the chest, it is being called “Thorax CT”. In a special method of computerized tomography which is similar to the colonoscopy, structures of colon are being evaluated and information about colon structure over the diseased region can be provided. This method is also known as "virtual colonoscopy”. . |
